Department of Physiology of University of Tartu was founded in 1632 with University of Tartu. The institute concentrates on medical research and development. Human physiology is taught to specialists of many fields and as a mandatory subject to all medical students. Also to students of social sciences and education and to those majoring in biology and genetics.
Research is conducted in neurophysiology, behavioral physiology, clinical physiology, genomics, personalised genomics, genetics, personalised physiology and lifestyle medicine.
